Dreaming of White Sandy Beaches

Even on a beautiful fall day like today, my mind still wanders off to bright, sunny days of summer. It was only a few months ago that we were driving along the west coast in bathing suits, and even more recent that we were drifting in tubes on a surprisingly warm September weekend. I wouldn't change the four seasons for a thing, and for designers and decorators, I think it offers more variety and flexibility in terms of products and materials that we can offer. But for today, I'm imagining the blue skies and tall grass of this incredible Southern Living 2009 Idea House in the Gulf Coast of Texas.

Southern Living has teamed up with architects Jeff Dungan and Louis Nequette, Tracery Interiors and many others to create a coastal retreat that is ideal for a young family. The website goes into great detail about materials, floor plans and sponsors, and they also have video tours of the space.

Seeing the antiqued mirror back splash they have used in the kitchen reminded me of CR Currin's furniture. They consider their pieces to be "jewelry for the home", and I couldn't agree more. They offer unique mirrored furniture, in both regular and antiqued finishes, that is truly stunning.

Ah, now back to reality. Pretty soon it will be Christmas!
