Bookmark Happy

I've been bookmarking sites like it's my job lately. I wish it was, because I've been finding some quality goods.

But there's no use keeping it to myself...I've come a long way from my hogging childhood.  Here's an index of my favourite sites, with a little blurb to get you all excited.

SCHOOLHOUSE ELECTRIC CO.
If you're into retro light fixtures for the wall, ceiling, nook and cranny, this is your lighting heaven.  Ideal for cottages, country homes and diners.

HOW I MET YOUR STYLE
Inspiration comes to me from everyday places, and fashion (well, not mine!) is a favourite source of mine.  The colours, artsy photographs - all of it is so refreshing!  This great website shares fashion profiles from very creative, original people and inspires me to be more daring in fashion and design.

AMY ATLAS EVENTS
When I helped organize my cousin's bridal shower this spring, I could've used some help from Amy Atlas.  As anyone close to me knows, I could eat sugar morning, night and noon...which is why I salivate over every dessert bar on her website.  Incredibly inspiring for children's birthday parties, kids rooms and the sugar-lover in all of us.  And she has a delicious blog too!

JJ LOCATIONS
As a self-confessed design addict, I'll admit that I scour magazines, blogs, etc in an effort to spot something new and inventive.  Fellow bloggers will surely agree that this becomes challenging.  The same pendant.  The same Restoration Hardware 'stuff'.  Even the same homes being re-shot at times - psh, what a design crime.  Want original spaces?  You will waste weekends on this site, I promise.  It's a location library of homes and venues available as movie sets and photo shoot backdrops.  I will go as far as to say, it may be the greatest inspiration I've ever stumbled upon (thank you Google!).  PS They're based in the UK.

Back with more from the stash tomorrow!

Haruco-Vert

More so for the love of rich colour, creative thinking and an appreciation for femininity, than interior design, I introduce Haruco-Vert.  Based in Amsterdam, this budding fashion design company has launched a fragrance and clothing collection for the glamorous woman. Their website is such (such!) a beautiful thing, and I think even interior designers will find it to be a great inspiration.

A Few Little Things...

Nothing grand. In fact, no theme at all. Just a few things I'm loving right now...

This amazing treehouse can be found in Washington, bridge and all. I would've killed for this as a kid. More amazing, youth-inspiring treehouses in this feature: 11 Amazing Treehouses.

While I love colourful interiors, my wardrobe is 95% black and white. Hence this neutral trend is right up my alley - safe and easy to wear, but so sweet and fresh.

...Speaking of fresh, I just bought a very cute nude lace dress from Joe Fresh only to find a coupon today for their summer collection. Don't make the same mistake: click here for $10 off your next purchase.

These adorable bird prints can be purchased from Art.com, and all things bird-related (so cute, like my little birdy logo) for the home are listed in this Glo magazine article.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

I'll take one of everything, pleaseandthankyou.

Emerson, above, and her cute husband Ryan (below) are the most incredible couple that I can't help but share here! I've added Emerson's blog to my blog roll in case any of you are interested in following, and of course I've overloaded on pictures below for a quick looksie.

Emersonmade is their brand, and they make these adorable flower necklaces, pins and wedding accessories to order. I love the combination of vintage, J. Crew and Anthropologie influences.

Basically I'm drooling over this girl's style...more photographs to come (next time, of their amazing house!).

All photos from Emersonmade.

At Least I'm Consistent

Apparently fashion trends dictate up-and-coming decor styles up to two years in advance. I, for one, have taken that theory to the extreme. I've started trying to dress like the rooms I'd love to live in and design.

Halter by One Vintage; All interior photos are Kara Mann's work

Tonight I was doing a little window shopping (starting with net-a-porter.com, and always finishing at forever21.com). After overflowing online shopping bags with dreamy and realistic purchases, I realized my style was noticeably mimicking the interior style of a designer I greatly admire - Kara Mann.

This young designer has had the career of my dreams. Since opening her firm Kara Mann Design in 2005, Kara's work has been published by leading design magazines and she has been appointed a Vogue 100 member. In 2007, she opened her first showroom in Chicago - KARA MANN, LTD. Her interiors are dramatic and sexy, and her use of symmetry and moody lighting have created her signature style.

I'm no fashionista, but if I may....here are a few pieces I'd love to wear, and the Kara Mann spaces I'd love to wear them in. Enjoy!
