Autumn Classics

Realist Paintings by David Jamieson

How Proust Can Change Your Life, Alain de Botton. The most down-to-earth self-help book I have ever read (and loved).
Lazy mornings in bed and fading daylight. Forest Canopy Bed via Anthropologie.

Recently gifted to me, Barefoot Contessa How Easy is That? by Ina Garten. I love her sweet demeanor and delicious recipes. I'm so looking forward to trying a few recipes this month (I'm eying her Fleur de sel caramels recipe).

For Kate

I just watched these (click HERE) videos of Kate and Andy Spade's homes in the Southampton and New York City over at My Favorite and My Best (love Jenny's blog). Their homes are so happy and youthful, and their art collection is unreal! They're certainly not afraid to fill their homes with colour and things they love.

Then I stumbled upon Annechovie, an adorable blog by artist Anne Harwell. These gorgeous, colourful pieces are all her paintings and they're all for sale on Etsy! Her work was even featured in It's Complicated! Her whimsical touch reminds me so much of Kate Spade's styling.

Leigh Viner

I can't say enough about Leigh Viner! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, my late night online shopping weakness got the best of me and I made my first Etsy purchase! A beautiful mixed media print by Leigh Viner called Abstractions Aside (below) arrived shortly after and tonight I finally got around to hanging it up!

Still on the hunt for a great frame, but this will do for now...

Leigh couldn't have been nicer and the print is just as gorgeous in person as it was at 2am that night! Be sure to check out more of her work.
Loving Etsy...

Better in Threes

They say all good things come in threes...

I love odd numbers and asymmetry in design. It gives the eye something to discover and wander about.

A triptych (pronounced /ˈtrɪptɪk/ TRIP-tik, from the Greek τρίπτυχο, from tri- "three" + ptychē "fold") is a work of art which is divided into three sections. (Source: Wikipedia)

I'm a huge fan of triptychs for their large size, balance of threes and ability to make a room seem even larger. Beautiful over a sofa or console, these Trowbridge triptychs are of the classic/traditional sort. For a modern approach, why not use that gorgeous landscape photo from your last trip and turn it into something one of a kind. Or shall we say, a limited edition.

All photographs from Trowbridge Galleries.

Kate Long Stevenson

On my daily blog roll, I came across the art of Kate Long Stevenson, an incredible artist from Greensboro, North Carolina. Erin from Elements of Style (one of my favourite blogs!) had picked up on a few of Stevensons' pieces, and they immediately caught my attention!

Her use of bright colours, bold brushstrokes and the female figure give all of her art such an original and uplifting look. I love her work and would hate to ever have to choose which one to keep! Shop here.
